Symposium on Veterinary Drug Technology Innovation Held in BeijingOn October 14, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, in collaboration with the Department of Legal Affairs, convened a symposium on veterinary drug technology innovation in Beijing. The meeting aimed to thoroughly implement the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, implement the directives of the National Science and Technology Conference, the National Agricultural Science and Technology Work Conference, and the Exchange Meeting on Strengthening the Principal Role of Agricultural Sci-Tech Innovation. Participants engaged in face-to-face discussions to hear about the progress and suggestions regarding innovation from veterinary drug research institutions and enterprises, and to explore ways to advance veterinary drug technology innovation and high-quality industrial development. The meeting highlighted that China is a major producer and user of veterinary drugs, with significant achievements in veterinary drug technology innovation in recent years and strong momentum in industrial development. However, compared to international advanced standards and domestic practical needs, China’s innovation capacity in veterinary drugs remains inadequate, the connection between industry, academia, and research is not tight enough, and the competitiveness of enterprises needs improvement, all of which hinder industrial innovation and development. The meeting emphasized the need to deeply implement the innovation-driven development strategy, enhance the awareness of self-reliance and self-improvement in science and technology, and take multiple measures to promote veterinary drug technology innovation. Efforts should be directed toward achieving world-class levels in veterinary drug innovation, focusing on overcoming core technological bottlenecks, addressing urgent practical needs, and tapping into market growth points. Targeted measures should be taken to enhance innovation capabilities. The goal is to build world-leading veterinary drug technology enterprises, strengthen the principal role of enterprises in innovation, increase investment in resources and elements, enhance industry-academia-research collaboration, and promote the transformation and application of achievements. Additionally, efforts should be made to provide world-class veterinary drug management services. In line with the requirements of "streamlining regulations, reducing fees, optimizing processes," continuous adjustments and optimizations should be made to the management systems for veterinary drug registration, evaluation, and innovation protection. Strengthened mid-event and post-event supervision, as well as the establishment of a unified, transparent, and equitable new type of government-business relationship, are also essential. Representatives from 18 research institutions, universities, and veterinary drug enterprises attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Participants also included officials from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, the Department of Legal Affairs, the Department of Science, Technology and Education of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, as well as the China Animal Disease Control Center, the China Institute of Veterinary Drug Control, and the China Veterinary Drug Association. |
